About Westchester Headache Center of Chappaqua, New York

Over 90% of the patients which we see at The Westchester Headache Center are patients who have previously been examined by other headache centers or headache physicians without having come to a satisfactory resolution of their headache problem. We at the Westchester headache Center are successful 90% or more of the time in bringing those patients to a satisfactory resolution of their headache issues.

We feel that our success is attributable to the extensive time and communication which we enjoy with our patients as well as our availability to our patients on 24/7 basis. When a patient comes to the Westchester Headache Center for the first time a three hour block of time is set aside for the initial evaluation of the patient. During this three hour session we obtain an extremely detailed history entailing the patient's complete past medical, social and family histories.

Following this we perform a comprehensive physical examination as well as any noninvasive neurologic tests including visual field analysis and neurosensory testing as may be dictated by either the patient's history or findings on physical examination. Once the physician has arrived at a working diagnosis as to the etiology of the patient's headaches the patient is provided with a description of the different possible therapies (herbal, pharmacological, meditative, etc.). The relative risks, benefits, alternatives and risks to alternatives involved in these different therapeutic modalities are discussed in detail with the patient. Finally, the patient and physician working together determine which therapeutic plan to put into action. Ongoing treatment is then accomplished through telephone consultations and in-office visits.
